This Hike was arranged by Peter Spoerl. Starting at the Portola Redwoods State Park Visitors Center, we hiked on well graded trails mostly in the Pescadero Creek County Park. The original plan to visit Tiptoe Falls on the way back was blocked because the park removes the bridges in the winter due to flooding on Pescadero Creek.Map(s) of perambulations below.
If there was a wildlife theme for this hike, it would have to be banana slugs...they were everywhere. There were also a fair number of salamanders.
Distance about 14 miles, total climbing approximately 2250 feet. The map doesn't indicate the large numbers of switchbacks that kept the grades reasonable.
Sunny and pleasant, trees everywhere.
