An interesting trip, with high points (County Peak) and low points (feral pigs), and a lot of interesting stuff in between.
Pinnacles Campground
After a
stop at the Temple of the Squiggly Line in Menlo Park, we got to the the
Pinnacles Campground (private) in the late afternoon. The campground is
surprisingly pleasant and spread out, with a nice variety of campsites, ranging
from barren and grassy to secluded and tree covered. Trick question: which
would *you* prefer?
North Chalone Peak
North Wilderness Trail
This
is a very well groomed trail, except for the part along Chalone Creek where
vagaries of the creek and a fair amount of downed trees make the trail a bit
obscure, but not difficult to follow.
Home Stretch - Old Pinnacles Trail and
Bear Gulch Trail
back to the well
