Back to Vicente Flat Trail Logging Project Page - Back to July 9-10 Worktrip
We stopped for lunch Sunday, at the pleasant flat between Logs #16 and 17, a space obviously, if not frequently used as a camp. After lunch, we picked up our tools and started working on Log #16, across the trail above the flat. After finishing both cuts and starting to deal with a minor end bind, we looked down the slope and decided that now would be the time to pick up our packs and move them up to the trail. Once we did that, we went back to freeing the section of log, which eventually came loose, rolled down the trail a bit, off the side, over some 6-8' bushes, directly across our lunch spot recently occupied by our packs, before fetching up with a rattling thump against a foot diameter redwood.
The camp area now has a rather nice 18" diameter bench placed near a convenient location.
